About Alashan
Alashan is the Alashan Plateau, with an average elevation of 900- 1400 meters. It is bounded by the famous Helan Mountain, Yinshan Mountain and Yellow River, with Helan Mountain in the southeast and Yinshan Mountain and Yellow River in the northeast, which is a part of the Inner Mongolia Plateau. On the Inner Mongolia Plateau, the west of Helan Mountain is Alashan Plateau, and the south of Yinshan Mountain is Ordos Plateau.

"Alashan" comes from the ancient Turkic language, which is another transliteration of "Helan", meaning the monster "refutation" in ancient legends. The Classic of Mountains and Seas says: "The mountain in the middle curve ... has beasts, strong as horses, white tail and black horns, Tiger Claw with tiger teeth and drums. Its name is refutation, and it can resist soldiers by eating tigers and leopards. " According to its shape, it is named after the beast in Shan Hai Jing. Refutation is like a unicorn in western mythology. There are three deserts in Alashan: Badain Jaran Desert, Tengger Desert and Wulanbuhe Desert.

Ordos Mongolian means "numerous palaces", and this name has been used since the Ming Dynasty. Because the mausoleum of Genghis Khan moved here in the Ming Dynasty, Mongolian nomadic tribes were named "Ordos", so the plateau was named after it (in fact, there are not only plateaus but also basins in geography). Ordos is in the south of the zigzag bend of the Yellow River in Hetao Plain, which is Kubuqi. Since then, the Yellow River has been like a bow from west to south. Under the bow, that is, south of the zigzag bend, is the famous Hetao Plain, which is the birthplace of Hetao culture. The mausoleum of Genghis Khan is located on the Ejinhoro grassland and belongs to the middle of Ordos. To the west of Ordos is Alashan Mountain, which is far from Huo Dou.

To the south of Ordos Plateau, the plateau continues to extend, that is, Shaanxi Loess Plateau; To the west of Ordos is Alashan, which continues to the west and moves from southeast to northwest in the southwest of Alashan. It is the famous Hexi Corridor, which is the main road from the Central Plains to the Western Regions in history and now belongs to Gansu. Go west along this narrow passage and enter Xinjiang. Before entering Xinjiang, a little to the west is Dunhuang. This is my route to Xinjiang at 200 1, Zhangye, Jiayuguan and Yumenguan. At that time, the train was very slow, and it took 48 hours from Beijing to Urumqi. I still remember the feeling of crashing on the train in those two days, and my brain was still crashing when I got off in Urumqi and lay in bed.

In recent years, Kubuqi Desert, which is famous for its outstanding achievements in sand control, is located at the bend of the Yellow River in Ordos Plateau. There is a shady mountain in the north to block the wind in the north, and there is irrigation from the Yellow River. It should not be a desert since ancient times. History also records the Hetao civilization that originated here. The Book of Songs? Xiaoya has "the son of heaven ordered me that the city is far away." The son of heaven refers to the son of Zhou, who arrived in the ancient city of Shuofang on Kubuqi grassland in the Western Zhou Dynasty 3000 years ago.

The yinshan mountains, which runs east-west, has a vegetation style of flourishing in the south and declining in the north due to light. The temperature difference between the north and south slopes is about 5 degrees, and the south slope extends to the Hetao Plain, which was nurtured with the Yellow River three thousand years ago. At that time, Kubuqi was called "Kubuqi Grassland" instead of "Kubuqi Desert".

However, the reason why such great changes have taken place here is probably related to the direction of the Yellow River. This is just a bend, and the water potential washes away the outer river channel, forming more sediment, while the water flow in the inner bend is slow and easy to accumulate sediment. So after thousands of years, Kubuqi in the bend of the river was gradually covered with sediment, from the original grassland to the alluvial plain rich in sediment.

Chilechuan at the foot of Yinshan Mountain. The sky is like the sky, and the cage covers four fields.

The sky is gray and wild. See cattle and sheep when the wind blows.

This famous folk song of the Northern Dynasties should describe the magnificent scenery at that time at the southern foot of Yinshan Mountain: lush water plants and cattle and sheep everywhere. Poisoned by this song, I still think that only grass like "the wind blows high and the cattle and sheep are low" can be regarded as a real grassland.

Today, the desert control in China is fruitful, especially in Kubuqi. I think it's because of the geographical conditions here, within the bend of the river. Only by forming an oasis here first can we March into the depths of the grassland like Alashan!

Alashan SEE Ecological Association and its foundation, which was born in 200 1, are eco-environmental protection institutions initiated by many private entrepreneurs. I first learned about it because I was involved in the real estate industry, and the big names in the real estate industry, such as Liu. I also began to pay attention to this foundation. Last year, I planted a Haloxylon ammodendron tree in Alashan by donation on foot. My next goal is to plant a Populus euphratica, which needs more than 200 thousand energy. Now my two accounts add up to more than 65438+ million, which is a long way to go!

Helan Mountain was once a famous ancient battlefield. From the Qin and Han Dynasties to the Song and Ming Dynasties, Huo Qubing fought here during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, and went straight into Lake Baikal from here, unprecedented and unprecedented! Genghis Khan's fighters also crossed Helan Mountain. Up to now, there is still the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty on Helan Mountain, and Yue Fei once had a "full river red". When will courtiers hate it? Driving a long car, breaking through the lack of Helan Mountain. "Strong bosom.

Alas, this knowledge of geography is killing me!
