1. Faculty
As of December 28, 2022, the school currently has 39 academicians of the two academies (including dual-employment), 304 national-level high-level talents, and 304 national-level high-level talents. There are 225 young talents, 7 National Natural Science Foundation Innovation Groups, 12 science and technology innovation teams of the Ministry of Education, 5 innovation teams in key areas of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 6 national teaching teams, research-based teaching innovation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Team of 4.
2. Teaching Resources
As of May 2020, the library has a traditional collection of 3.2 million volumes/pieces, 1.72 million electronic books, and a total of 136 databases. Among them: 12 abstract databases, 46 foreign language full-text databases, 18 Chinese databases, 5 Chinese e-books, 20 foreign language e-books, 13 multimedia resources, 2 discovery systems, and 18 free electronic resources.
Two retrieval systems and analysis tools, including various well-known large-scale comprehensive databases and various authoritative full-text databases of professional society publications. The library built its own special library of full-text dissertations of the school in 2003, and began to prepare a special library of national defense engineering documents.
3. Scientific research results
During the development process of the "Shenzhou" series of spacecraft, Harbin Institute of Technology conquered KM6, return capsule welding deformation and orthopedic technology, three-axis simulation experiment turntable, and astronaut training There are many technical difficulties such as the "simulated weightlessness training tank" and the reflective mirror body for astronauts to leave the cabin. In the rendezvous and docking mission between the "Tiangong-1" target aircraft and the "Shenzhou" series spacecraft, the school provided more than 20 technical supports.
For this reason, Harbin Institute of Technology won the honorary title of "China's Manned Space Engineering Outstanding Contribution Group" and is the only university unit in the country. In 2012, Harbin Institute of Technology won the "Commemorative Medal for the Success of the Tiangong-1 and Shenzhou-9 Manned Rendezvous and Docking Mission."
