Since 1985, the school has signed inter-school exchange agreements with Harvard Medical School in the United States, University of Western Australia School of Medicine in Australia, University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Medicine, University of Hong Kong School of Medicine, and Kiang Wu School of Nursing in Macau.

With the approval of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Union Medical College, with funding from the Chinese Medical Foundation (New York), has also established the country's first dual degree program of Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Science (M.D. & Ph.D.) since 1995.
