What is provident fund?
1. Housing accumulation fund is a long-term housing deposit paid by enterprises and their employees.
2. The provident fund is opened by the employer according to the roster of employees, and the total amount of the provident fund that should be paid should be paid to the bank designated by the provident fund center and owned by the employees.
3. Where a unit terminates the labor relationship with its employees, it shall, within 30 days from the date of termination of the labor relationship, go through the formalities for changing the registration at the housing provident fund management center by the unit, and go through the formalities for transferring or sealing the employee's housing provident fund account at the entrusted bank by the audit documents of the housing provident fund management center.
Legal basis: Article 16 of the Regulations on the Administration of Housing Provident Fund in People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that the monthly contribution of employee housing provident fund is the average monthly salary of the employee in the previous year multiplied by the contribution ratio of employee housing provident fund. The monthly deposit amount of housing provident fund paid by the unit for employees is the average monthly salary of employees in the previous year multiplied by the proportion of housing provident fund paid by the unit.
