According to the official WeChat account of the National Medical Insurance Bureau, the National Medical Insurance Bureau, the Ministry of Finance, the National Health and Wellness Commission and the National Disease Control Bureau issued a notice on further increasing the medical expenses of patients in COVID-19.

Since the implementation of "Class B tube" in novel coronavirus from June 5, 20438 to October 8, 2023, the relevant departments have earnestly implemented the requirements of the Notice on Optimizing the Medical Insurance for the Treatment Expenses of Infected Patients in novel coronavirus after the Implementation of "Class B tube" and done a solid job in ensuring the medical expenses of infected patients in COVID-19. Relevant policies will be implemented in advance until March 3, 20231day to help the people get through the peak period of infection smoothly and effectively. In order to implement the decision-making arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and do a good job in ensuring the related medical expenses after April 1, the relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

First, adjust the medical insurance reimbursement policy for patients in COVID-19.

The special security policies such as full hospitalization expenses and special outpatient service will be changed into conventional medical insurance policies. Insured patients who meet the requirements of medical expenses and other Class B infectious diseases in COVID-19 shall implement the same medical insurance reimbursement policy. Medical insurance departments at all levels will promptly settle the medical expenses of infected patients in COVID-19. After paying the basic medical insurance and serious illness insurance according to the regulations, if the personal burden is still heavy and meets the conditions of medical assistance, classified assistance shall be given according to the regulations.

Two, will meet the conditions of COVID-19 medical insurance treatment plan outside the directory of therapeutic drugs temporarily included in the scope of medical insurance payment.

The National Medical Insurance Bureau has improved the price formation mechanism of therapeutic drugs in COVID-19, and implemented classified management according to the price level. COVID-19 therapeutic drugs that are not included in the medical insurance catalogue in the national COVID-19 infection diagnosis and treatment plan are included in the Notice on Improving the price formation mechanism of therapeutic drugs in COVID-19 and implementing classified management. If the difference between the treatment expenses and similar drugs in the medical insurance catalogue is small, they can be temporarily included in the scope of medical insurance fund payment, and the payment level can be appropriately reduced on the basis of Class B drugs in the catalogue.

Medical insurance departments at all levels should constantly improve the handling workflow, improve the handling service level, implement relevant policies such as medical settlement in different places and long-term prescription medical insurance payment, and provide better, convenient and efficient medical insurance handling services for the insured people.
