IBRD mainly provides medium and long-term loans to developing countries, and the loan interest rate is lower than the market interest rate. It cooperates with the International Development Association, the International Financial Cooperation Organization, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, all of which are members of the World Bank Group. The ultimate goal is to help developing countries in member countries improve their productivity and promote their economic development and social progress by providing financial and technical assistance.

The Articles of Agreement of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development were adopted by the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference on July 22nd, 1944. According to this agreement, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (also known as the World Bank) was established. 1947, formally signed an agreement with the United Nations to establish mutual relations and become a specialized agency of the United Nations.
