Introduction to Energy and Power Engineering at Hefei University of Technology The Energy and Power Engineering major includes two directions: heat engine and refrigeration and cryogenic technology. It belongs to the first-level discipline of power engineering and engineering thermophysics and has the right to award first-level master's degrees.

This major is divided into two secondary disciplines (power machinery and engineering, refrigeration and cryogenic engineering), both of which have the right to confer master's degrees.

The Department of Heat Engines has been recruiting undergraduates since 1970, and has been recruiting master's degree students since 1978. It was authorized to confer a master's degree in 1986, and in 2007 it was authorized to confer a master's degree in power engineering.
