Established in 2006, China Women and Children's Medical and Health Foundation is affiliated to the the State Council Women and Children's Working Committee, and is a national non-profit social welfare organization under the guidance of the Ministry of Health. The purpose is to improve the medical and health level of women and children, promote the healthy development of women and children, and make due contributions to building a harmonious society. The first chairman, Vice Premier Wu Yi, and the current chairman, State Councilor Liu Yandong. The establishment of China Women's and Children's Medical and Health Foundation has provided a new carrier for implementing the Party's central work, built a public welfare platform for rallying social resources and solving people's livelihood problems, and added new measures for serving women and children.

Since its establishment, through raising funds and materials from domestic and foreign enterprises, institutions, social organizations and individuals, it has established a number of public welfare brands such as "Mother Safety Project", "Mother Healthy Walking" and "Baby Happy Growth". It has done a lot of fruitful work in many public welfare activities such as women and children's development, health, education, training, poverty alleviation and disaster relief, and has done many practical and good things for women and children, giving full play to the special social role of its organization.
