Qi Lao said humorously: "My surname is Qi Minggong, and I don't eat ancestral meals. I don't want to be a' child of the Eight Banners' and make a living by my own skills."

His ancestors were the son of Yongzheng and the younger brother of Qianlong. However, in the generation of Gao Grandfather who started the work, he was included in the sideline because he was not the firstborn of the main room, so he moved out of the palace with his mother. When the great-grandfather who started the work died, his great-grandfather became the so-called "strong cadre and weak branch" and lived by teaching. Unwilling to live alone, he made a determined effort to study, took the imperial examination, went from juren to Jinshi to Hanlin, and finally became the minister of rites. Qi Gong's grandfather still followed this path, and eventually he became the "examiner" and "study politics". However, Qigong's father didn't step into his official career, which made it easy for him to die prematurely at the age of 19, when Qigong had just turned one year old. Only under the care of my grandfather can I go to school. Dai Sui-zhi, an old protege of his grandfather, is a kind Old Master Q. He personally taught literature and history for young people and tried his best to let him inherit the mantle of his educational family. Qi Gong thought at that time: "You provide for my school, but who cares about my mother and an unmarried aunt?" Besides, I can't always live on the support of others, can I? " So he begged Mr. Dai to say, "I want to get a job, even if I earn twenty or thirty yuan a month, I can support my mother and aunt." Qigong knows that he is a completely "abandoned descendant of the nobility", so why not hide his surname and solve his livelihood first before developing? Cheerful and optimistic, he created his own surname "Qi" and became the "ancestor".

graduated from qigong middle school in 1933. Based on the origin of family studies, and with the deliberate guidance and careful cultivation of his grandfather's protege, Qi Gong stood out from the crowd in classical poetry and historical poems. At this time, an old family friend of my grandfather, Mr. Fu Zengxiang, recommended Qigong to Chen Yuan, an outstanding historian and educator. Chen yuan's friendship with students is pure, true and deep, which makes Qi Gong unforgettable all his life. He once recalled emotionally: "I knew Mr. Chen Yuan from the age of 21 until his death. I have been taught by Teacher Chen for nearly forty years. " In order to repay this kindness, he worked hard at his desk for three years and created hundreds of paintings and calligraphy works. On the occasion of the 12th anniversary of Mr. Chen Yuan's birth, he set up the "Liyun Scholarship Fund of Beijing Normal University" with RMB 1.63 million from the charity sale in Hong Kong. The fund was named after "Liyun" because the old headmaster Chen Yuan once recited a poem before his death: "The old man is also a farmer, and the bookstore is now Liyun." Chen Yuan lived in this house for a long time, hence the name Liyun Bookstore. In order to repay the teacher's long-cherished wish, Mr. Zhao Puchu wrote a poem in praise, saying, "It's better to lose your liver, break your teeth and work hard, than to know the teacher's respect today.
