Michelin 1988 set up a sales office in Hong Kong. In order to further strengthen the development in China market, the first representative office of Chinese mainland was established in Beijing on 1999, which is responsible for the preparation of product promotion and distribution network. Now Michelin has set up marketing offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang, Wuhan, Xi and Hong Kong, with a sales network all over the country. In April, 20001,Michelin Group and Shanghai Tire and Rubber (Group) Co., Ltd. (STRC) and other shareholders jointly established Shanghai Michelin Warrior Tire Co., Ltd. (SMW), with a total investment of 200 million US dollars. SMW continued to produce Huili brand radial tires for cars and light trucks, and began to produce Michelin brand tires at the end of 2002.

In 200 1 year, Michelin Group moved its headquarters in China from Beijing to Shanghai. At that time, the establishment of Michelin (China) Investment Co., Ltd. provided more opportunities and support for the further development of Michelin Group in China, and also reflected that Michelin Group attached great importance to the China market for a long time.

At the same time, Michelin Group established a research and development center in Shanghai. R&D Center is committed to meeting the technical requirements of local and foreign automobile manufacturers in China for automobile matching tires, and also provides technical guidance for tire raw material suppliers, such as natural rubber and steel suppliers.

On 2011April 18, Michelin Group announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Shuangqian Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Huayi Group to set up a joint venture company to produce and sell pull-back trucks and light truck tires for the China market. This project is fully in line with Michelin's strategic commitment to develop its business in the fast-growing market. The project has yet to be signed by the final agreement and approved by the relevant departments of China government. The new company will be 40% owned by Michelin and 60% by China. It will operate a factory under construction in Wuwei County, Anhui Province.
