Snow leopard is a beautiful and endangered cat. According to the estimation of the International Snow Leopard Foundation, the existing population of snow leopards is only about 3,5, only distributed in 12 countries in Central Asia, and there are about 2, in China, mainly distributed in Pamir Plateau, Tianshan Mountain, Kunlun Mountain and other places in Xinjiang, and distributed in patches at high altitudes, covering an area of over 2.5 million square kilometers. Because of its unique life characteristics, snow leopard is called the flagship species of biodiversity in Central Asia, a typical representative of the highest altitude animals in the world, an environmental ambassador to promote the construction of cross-border national parks or protected areas, and an indicator species of a healthy mountain ecosystem.
Snow leopard is the most beautiful cat. Its size and shape are similar to those of a leopard, but the length, color, pattern and tail shape of its body hair are different from those of a leopard. Because it lives all the year round near the high and cold area of the snow line, in order to resist the cold, its fur on the body surface is particularly thin, soft and thick. The hair is longer than that of the leopard, the hair on the back is about 5 cm long and the hair on the abdomen is longer. There is not much difference in the density and color of body hair between winter and summer. Its whole body is grayish white, with a layer of light gray and light blue, and it is covered with black spots.
Snow Leopard, which enjoys the reputation of "Snow king of the hill", is a national first-class protected animal, and it is also one of the cats living in the highest altitude area so far. At present, the snow leopard has been listed in the International Red Book of Endangered Wild Animals. The global population of snow leopard is only about 4,, which is one of the species worse than the living environment of giant pandas.
