Fengxian, a district under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Municipality.

It is located in the south of Shanghai, facing Hangzhou Bay in the south; leaning on the Huangpu River in the north and facing Minhang District across the river; facing Nanhui District in the east; and adjoining Jinshan District and Songjiang District in the west.

The district government is located in Nanqiao Town, 42km away from the city center.

It covers an area of ??704km2, has a registered population of 510,000, and a permanent population of 790,000. It governs 8 towns, 64 community residents' committees, and 270 villagers' committees.

Fengxian District is located in the south of Shanghai, 42 kilometers away from People's Square in the center of Shanghai and 30 kilometers away from Pudong International Airport.

It is a beautiful coastal city with Huangpu River to the north and Hangzhou Bay to the south. It has a 13.7-kilometer-long river bank and a 31.6-kilometer coastline.

The district's land area is 704.68 square kilometers, and the district's cultivated land area is 27,838 hectares.

The land and water transportation within the territory is convenient.

Actively implement the strategy of "revitalizing the district through science and education", firmly establish and implement the scientific outlook on development, and actively organize and implement scientific and technological projects.

During the year, we actively applied for more than 190 projects including the Innovation Fund Plan for Science and Technology Small and Medium Enterprises, National New Products, National Torch Plan Projects, Agricultural Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Key National Spark Plan Projects.

In accordance with the “153060” plan for municipal highway network construction, Fengxian has further accelerated the construction and improvement of the district’s highway network in recent years.

By the end of 2004, the total mileage of highways in our district was 984.76 kilometers.

Among them: 74.9 kilometers of expressways have been built, 14.28 kilometers of first-class highways, 190.01 kilometers of second-class highways, 336.70 kilometers of third-class highways, and 368.87 kilometers of fourth-class highways.

At the same time, other road networks are also being promoted in an orderly manner. In order to further build a fast and convenient regional road network, road construction will continue to be vigorously implemented.

Mainly completed are Nanqiao Road (A30 to Tingdafu Road), the southern section of Huancheng East Road (A30 to Xinlin Highway), the southern Sichuan Fenggai line section (Qingcun Yuzhuang to Wahong Highway), Pingzhuang Highway (Huancheng Highway)

East Road to Yanqian Road), widening of the southern section of Jinhai Highway (Nanfeng Highway to Pingzhuang Highway) and other projects.

Fengxian got its name because it is said that Yan Yan, a disciple of Confucius, came here to give lectures, and later generations respected the sage.

About 4,000 years ago, humans have inhabited the territory.

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it first belonged to Wu and Yue, and then to Chu. It was returned to Haiyan County during the Qin, Han, Jin, Southern Song, and Qi dynasties. During the Liang and Chen dynasties of the Southern Dynasties, the eastern part of the original Haiyan County was placed in Qianjing County, and the land belonged to Qianjing County.

In the ninth year of Kaihuang (589) of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, Qianjing was merged into Changshu County. In the eighteenth year of Kaihuang (598), the southeastern territory was separated and Kunshan County was established, and the land belonged to it.

In 2006, the region's added value was 26.88 billion yuan, an increase of 20.0% over the previous year based on comparable prices (the same below).

Among them: the added value of the primary industry was 1.03 billion yuan, a comparable increase of 1.4%; the added value of the secondary industry was 18.01 billion yuan, a comparable increase of 22.0%, and its contribution to GDP was 72.8%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 7.84 billion yuan
