Fengxian, a district under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Municipality.

It is located in the south of Shanghai, facing Hangzhou Bay in the south; leaning on the Huangpu River in the north and facing Minhang District across the river; facing Nanhui District in the east; and adjoining Jinshan District and Songjiang District in the west.

The district government is located in Nanqiao Town, 42km away from the city center.

It covers an area of ??704km2, has a registered population of 510,000, and a permanent population of 790,000. It governs 8 towns, 64 community residents' committees, and 270 villagers' committees.

Fengxian District is located in the south of Shanghai, 42 kilometers away from People's Square in the center of Shanghai and 30 kilometers away from Pudong International Airport.

It is a beautiful coastal city with Huangpu River to the north and Hangzhou Bay to the south. It has a 13.7-kilometer-long river bank and a 31.6-kilometer coastline.

The district's land area is 704.68 square kilometers, and the district's cultivated land area is 27,838 hectares.

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it first belonged to Wu and Yue, and then to Chu. It was returned to Haiyan County during the Qin, Han, Jin, Southern Song, and Qi dynasties. During the Liang and Chen dynasties of the Southern Dynasties, the eastern part of the original Haiyan County was placed in Qianjing County, and the land belonged to Qianjing County.

In the ninth year of Kaihuang (589) of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, Qianjing was merged into Changshu County. In the eighteenth year of Kaihuang (598), the southeastern territory was separated and Kunshan County was established, and the land belonged to it.
