China University of Mining and Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "2 1 1 Project", "985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform Project" and a national "double-class" construction university. It is also a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and state administration of work safety.
The school is one of the first universities in China with the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees, and it has a graduate school. The school is located in Xuzhou, a national historical and cultural city known as the thoroughfare of five provinces. It has two campuses, Wenchang and Nanhu, covering an area of more than 4,000 mu.
There are 67 undergraduate majors, 33 first-class master degree authorization points, 18 professional degree authorization points, 17 first-class doctoral programs and 16 postdoctoral research stations. First-class disciplines 1 each, 8 national key disciplines in two disciplines, and national key (cultivation) disciplines 1 each; Six "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" provincial key disciplines and six "Jiangsu University Advantage Discipline Construction Project" project disciplines.
