According to the current commercial banking law, China's commercial banks and investment banks operate separately, so commercial banks cannot directly invest in equity or private equity funds.

China's finance tends to be mixed operation, and there has been a demand for direct opening of commercial banks, but the law needs to be amended first, which is not possible at present. Another option is direct investment by overseas subsidiaries of commercial banks.
