World Osteoporosis Day was initiated by the British National Osteoporosis Society on 1996 and supported by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) on 1997. At that time, it was scheduled to be World Osteoporosis Day on June 24th every year.
Its purpose is to provide a very important focus information for those governments and people who do not pay enough attention to the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, and to carry out universal education and information transmission.
Development history
From World Osteoporosis Day 1998 to now, every year, the global activities of Osteoporosis Day have released a theme, in order to achieve global unified action and better results.
The theme of World Osteoporosis Day (1998) is "government behavior" (publicize to the government, arouse the government's attention and support for osteoporosis prevention and treatment;
1999 the theme of world osteoporosis day is "early diagnosis";
From 2000 to 2004, in order to make the theme of World Osteoporosis Day closely related to the families of osteoporosis patients, the theme of the quadrennial osteoporosis day was put forward, but the subtitle of the quadrennial activity was different.
For example, the subtitle in 2003 was "Improving the Quality of Life", in 2004 it was "Male Osteoporosis" and in 2005 it was "Concerned about Male Osteoporosis". The theme of World Osteoporosis Day in 2006 is "Nutrition and Osteoporosis", and the theme of 2007 is "Paying attention to and reducing the risk of osteoporosis".
