Must the central bank buy securities for its open market business?
Don't. The open market business of the central bank may not only buy securities, but also choose to sell securities. This is called repurchase to absorb market liquidity. The central bank sells securities such as government bonds and financial bonds to the market through repurchase, thus reducing the money supply in the market and raising the market interest rate.
