Southeast University, located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, was founded in 192. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China and was built by the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province. It is a national "double-class" construction university and a key construction university of "985 Project" and "211 Project". Selected into "Strong Foundation Plan", "211 Plan", "111 Plan", Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan, Excellent Doctor Education and Training Plan, Basic Research Everest Plan of Colleges and Universities, and the first batch of future technical colleges to build universities, which are "Building the Old Eight Schools", Excellent University Alliance, Yangtze River Delta Sustainable Development University Alliance, Sino-British University Engineering Education and Research Alliance, Sino-Russian University of Engineering Alliance, and Carbon Neutral World University. The school started from Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 192, and then went through such important development periods as Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Normal School, National Southeast University and National Central University. In 1952, the departments of colleges and universities in China were adjusted, and the liberal arts and other departments of the school moved out. The former National Central University Institute of Technology was the main body, and it was merged into the related departments of Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Jinling University, and Nanjing Institute of Technology was established in the original site of the National Central University. In May 1988, the school was renamed Southeast University. In April 2, the former Southeast University, Nanjing Railway Medical College and Nanjing Jiaotong College merged, and Nanjing Geological School merged to form a new Southeast University. Southeast University originated from Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 192. The school consists of physics and chemistry department (later called physics and chemistry mathematics department), agronomy and natural history department (later called natural history and agriculture department), history and geography department and manual drawing department.

According to official website, as of March 222, Southeast University had 3,211 full-time teachers, including 2,879 teachers with doctoral degrees and 2,18 teachers with full and deputy senior titles. There are 1287 doctoral tutors and 2422 master tutors. There are 16 academicians of the two academies, 3 academicians of the European Academy of Sciences, 13 members of the Eighth Discipline Appraisal Group of the the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, and about 5 outstanding talents with noble morality, high teaching level, strong scientific and technological innovation ability and great global academic influence.
