Xiamen University was founded by Tan Kah Kee.
Tan Kah Kee is a native of Jimeishe, Tong'an County, Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, and his ancestral home is Gushi County, Henan.
In 1913, Tan Kah Kee returned to his hometown of Jimei and founded Jimei Primary School, Jimei Middle School, Jimei University and Xiamen University. Teachers and students of Xiamen University and Jimei Village respected him as the school owner.
Xiamen University, referred to as Xiamen University, is located in Xiamen City, Fujian Province. It is mainly a comprehensive research-oriented national key university at the deputy ministerial level directly under the Ministry of Education, and a key university established by the Ministry of Education, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, Fujian Province and Xiamen City.
Ranked in the National Double First-Class, 211 Project, and 985 Project, the first batch of independent review units for degree authorization, and selected into the National 2011 Plan, Everest Plan, Strong Foundation Plan, 111 Plan, Outstanding Legal Talent Education and Training Plan, and Outstanding Doctor Education and Training Plan.
