Wang Neng 1992 graduated from Nanjing University with a major in physical chemistry, 1995 received a master's degree in chemistry from California Institute of Technology, 1997 received a master's degree in international relations and Asia-Pacific studies from the University of California, San Diego, and received a doctorate in finance from Stanford University in 2002. From 2002 to 2004, he taught at the Business School of the University of Rochester. He has been teaching at Columbia University since 2004. In 2007, he was promoted to tenured professor, chairman and full professor. In 2008, he served as the director of the Finance Department of Columbia University, and in 2009, he concurrently served as the dean of the School of Finance of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Wang Neng's research fields include corporate finance, macroeconomics, asset pricing theory, private placement and hedge funds, entrepreneur economics and finance, investor protection, corporate governance, consumer savings, investment and consumption, wealth income distribution and inequality, economic growth, economic cycle and financial friction, dynamic investment and financing and capital mobility, systematic risk and management of financial institutions, and real estate finance. He has published many articles in top international economic and financial journals, served as editor-in-chief and editor-in-chief of several financial magazines, and won many academic awards in finance, including the Outstanding Financial Scholar Award of Arizona State University and the Smith-Breeden Outstanding Paper Award of Finance Magazine.

He has been a visiting and visiting professor at Kellogg Business School of Northwest University, School of Advanced Finance of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Peking University, Zhejiang University and other universities and financial institutions, or distinguished professor. He teaches MBA, Master of Finance and doctoral courses such as entrepreneur finance and private placement, fixed assets income and market, financial institutions and risk management, real estate finance, corporate finance theory and dynamic finance theory. Wang Neng was born in 1973 in Dangtu, Anhui.
