2. Scientific and technical personnel engaged in basic research who meet the conditions stipulated in Article 10, Paragraph 1 of the "Regulations" and do not have a work unit or the unit where they work is not a supporting unit, shall obtain such support after consultation with the supporting unit registered with the Natural Science Foundation of China.

Relying on the consent of the host institution, you can apply for general projects and Youth Science Fund projects, but are not allowed to apply for other types of projects.

When applying for a project, this type of person should provide a detailed introduction to his or her past research work and current employer in the resume section of the application form, and provide proof that the supporting institution agrees with the project he or she is applying for, which should be submitted together with the paper application form as an attachment.

3. Those who are pursuing a postgraduate degree (who have not yet obtained a degree before the deadline for receiving applications from the Natural Science Foundation) are not allowed to apply for various projects as applicants, but current employees can apply for some types of projects through the employer with the consent of their supervisor, and a separate supervisor should be provided.

A letter agreeing to the application project and signed by the supervisor, explaining the relationship between the application project and thesis, the working time and condition guarantee after undertaking the project, etc., should be submitted as an attachment with the paper application form.

The types of projects that those who are studying for a postgraduate degree on the job can apply for include: general projects, youth science fund projects, regional science fund projects and some joint fund projects (unless otherwise specified). However, those who are studying for a master's degree on the job are not allowed to apply for youth science projects.

Scientific and technical personnel who are currently engaged in research in a postdoctoral workstation who apply for a National Natural Science Foundation of China project must provide a written commitment from the supporting institution to ensure that after receiving project funding, they will extend their period in the postdoctoral workstation until the expiration of the project funding period; or they must leave the station.
