The Aksu region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently held a centralized groundbreaking ceremony for the integrated protection and restoration project of landscape, forest, field, lake, grass and sand in the important source area of Tarim River (Aksu River Basin) in Xinjiang. It is understood that in May last year, the project was selected into the first batch of integrated protection and restoration projects of mountains, rivers, fields, lakes, grasses and sands in China, and it is the first integrated protection and restoration project of mountains, rivers, fields, lakes, grasses and sands in Xinjiang. The implementation area covers Aksu City, Wensu County, Awati County and Wushi County, with a total area of 3,602,300 hectares. * * * Deploy 35 subprojects in five categories: improving wind-proof and sand-fixing capacity, ensuring oasis ecological security, protecting and restoring watershed water ecology, improving forest and grass ecological conservation function and improving life * * * governance capacity, with a total investment of 5.373 billion yuan and an implementation period of 3 years.
