2. The International Office conducts formal examination: The International Bureau examines the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). After receiving the international registration application, the International Bureau deems that the procedures are complete and the categories and names of goods and services are filled in correctly. Registration; if the procedures are deemed incomplete, registration will be suspended and the Trademark Office will be notified. The Trademark Office will notify the applicant or agent within 15 days from the date of receipt of the notice from the International Bureau. The applicant or agent has completed the procedures; upon review, it meets the requirements of the International Bureau, and the trademark will be issued after the application has been or will be submitted to each designated country for review. Proof of international registration. This international trademark registration certificate is not proof that the trademark has been approved for registration; its significance is that the international registration number and international registration date are the basis for the applicant to carry out a series of activities such as later designation, change, transfer, and renewal of the trademark.
3. The International Office issues an acceptance notice: If the formal review is passed, the International Office will issue an acceptance notice, which generally takes 3 to 6 months.
4. Formal examination by the International Bureau: After passing the formal examination by the International Office, the application is submitted to the International Bureau for formal examination.
5. The International Bureau issues a certificate of international trademark registration: The International Bureau passes the formal examination and issues a certificate of international trademark registration (which is equivalent to the domestic acceptance notice). It takes about 6 to 9 months from the filing date.
