When I met Wu Jiabin, I found that he looked tired. This northern man who once held the rank of major had experienced three roles: soldier-farmer-businessman in his past life. Today, he is the general manager of a company with more than 400 "Old Mill" bean chain stores across the country.
Major changed jobs and became a farmer
Wu Jiabin entered the army in 1979. In 1980, he became the first recruit of the army and was admitted to the Dalian Army Academy. In 1993, Wu Jiabin, who already had the rank of major, was facing a career change. At that time, he made an unprecedented decision: he gave up the opportunity to find a job in the city and became a farmer in Changhong Village, Jiamusi. "My idea at the time was very simple, which was to build a Huaxi Village in Northeast China to set an example for demobilized soldiers to start their own businesses." Wu Jiabin told reporters.
In the following years, Wu Jiabin devoted all his enthusiasm and helped the village open village-run enterprises such as a quarry, a winery and a mineral beverage company, and began his own entrepreneurial journey.
However, it turned out that Wu Jiabin's idea was too simple. Various incidents caused him to fall to the lowest point in his life: he was disgraced, penniless, and his wife left him. In the autumn rain of 1997, Wu Jiabin packed his bags and left his hometown silently with only more than 1,000 yuan.
Opened 400 franchise stores in 6 years
In Shanghai, where he had no friends, Wu Jiabin made a living by selling cutting boards for others. In three years, he sold **** He has more than 20,000 cutting boards and more than 80,000 yuan in his pocket, and is planning his second business venture in his life.
He noticed that the tofu in Shanghai was not as good as the tofu in Northeast China in terms of taste, quality and color, so he began to think about how to make tofu all day long. In 2000, Wu Jiabin invested all his money and opened the first ready-to-sell tofu shop in Shanghai, the "Old Moulin" bean chain store, with part of the funds provided by franchisees. So far, there are more than 400 tofu shops nationwide. There are more than 100 franchise stores in Shanghai. Wu Jiabin said: "I plan to open 1,000 stores in the next few years." According to statistics, 100,000 people in Shanghai drink "Old Moulin" soy milk every day, with average annual sales of Sixty to seventy million yuan.
Last year, Wu Jiabin bought a noodle shop called "Old Guo Noodle Shop" from Singapore. After returning to China, he carefully crafted it and created a new concept of noodle shop---"Guopin Noodle Bar" . At the beginning of this year, the first store of "Guopin Noodle Bar" opened. From the opening day, there are people waiting for a table every day. People asking to join and cooperate came one after another, but Wu Jiabin remained unmoved and insisted on opening direct-operated stores, and planned to open 300 stores within three years.
In order to help those comrades who have transferred to the industry avoid detours, Wu Jiabin has contacted his hometown and the Shanghai military transfer department to attract transferred military cadres who are interested in this industry to work in enterprises or help them start their own businesses.
