What is the special system for trademark application in New Zealand?

1. Official inquiry (search and registration feasibility report): Before submitting the application, the applicant can apply for an official inquiry to search for prior rights and assess the risk of rejection on absolute grounds. If the report shows that the search trademark can be registered, the official fee will be reduced by half if the applicant submits an application for the search trademark and the search product within three months after the search application date.

2. Validity period calculation: If priority is claimed in the trademark application, the validity period will be calculated ten years from the priority date.

3. The product description shall not contain a registered trademark: a registered trademark shall not be used as a component of the product description. For example, in "Bluetooth Headset", since "Bluetooth" is a registered trademark, it is not accepted. The product description needs to be modified to a similar description such as wireless headphones.
