The basic rights and obligations of citizens
Citizens refer to people who have the nationality of a country and enjoy rights and assume obligations in accordance with the constitution and laws.
1. Basic rights of citizens:
(1) Right to equality: Citizens are equal before the law.
(2) Political rights and freedoms: refers to the rights and freedoms of citizens to manage national affairs and participate in political life.
(3) Right to personal freedom: personal freedom is not infringed, personal dignity is not infringed, residence is not infringed, freedom of communication and confidentiality of communication are protected by law.
(4) Freedom of religious belief: There is freedom to believe in religion and not to believe in religion.
(5) Social and economic rights: labor rights, rest rights, retirees’ rights to living security, and rights to material assistance.
(6) Cultural and educational rights: the right to education and the freedom to conduct scientific research, literary and artistic creation and other cultural activities.
(7) Rights of specific persons: The state protects the rights and interests of women; marriage, family, the elderly, and children are protected by the state; the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese and their family members are protected.
2. Basic obligations of citizens:
(1) The obligation to safeguard the unity of the country and the unity of all ethnic groups.
(2) Obey the constitution and laws, keep state secrets, protect public property, observe labor discipline, observe public order, and observe social ethics.
(3) The obligation to safeguard the security, honor and interests of the motherland.
(4) The obligation to defend the motherland and perform military service in accordance with the law.
(5) Obligation to pay taxes in accordance with the law.
