1. Siyang Fat Chicken
Pot chicken, one of the famous snacks in Siyang, Jiangsu Province, is red and white, with soft texture and fragrant meat. Fatty but not greasy, the taste is fresh and tender. During weddings and funerals in farm families, fat chicken is often served as the "first course". When guests comment on the chef's skill, the preparation of fat chicken is used as the standard.
In September 2020, it was selected into the list of local standard dishes in Baidao Township, Jiangsu Province.
2. Yuzhen Liquor
Yuzhen Liquor is produced in Siyang County. In the fourth year of the Republic of China (1915), Yuzhen Liquor won the Panama International Gold Medal at the Nanyang Entrepreneurship Conference. In March 2005, the 45° strong-flavor "Centennial Yuzhen" wine was designated as the "exclusive wine for banquets at the Great Hall of the People." ?
3. Chuancheng Big Cake
Chuancheng Big Cake is large and thick, with a thickness of up to eight inches in the middle and a weight of fifteen kilograms. Chuancheng's flatbread is made with a unique technique. It does not use a pan but a round-bottomed iron pan to make the flatbread thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges.
The fire for baking must use firewood to simmer, so it takes three sticks of incense to cook a piece of cake from the time it is put into the pot to the time it is cooked. The pancake maker must be patient in order to achieve the effect of the pancake being cooked but not burnt. There is a saying going around the city that "you can't make a big cake if you are too hasty".
4. Baji Peanuts
Baji Peanuts are one of Siyang’s famous specialties. It is named after it is produced in Baji Township, Siyang County, Jiangsu Province. Eight sets of small peanuts have thin shells, tender meat and good taste.
After frying, it has the characteristics of white, fragrant, sweet and crisp. In 1999, "Baji Peanut" became a registered trademark, and the products sold well all over the country. In 2011, Baji Peanut was selected into the list of national agricultural products with geographical indication product protection.
5. Siyang White Su Pear
The Siyang White Su Pear in Siyang County, Jiangsu Province has large fruit, with an average fruit weight of 350 grams and the largest one reaching 1500 grams. The fruit is nearly cylindrical. , the peel is yellow, slightly light brown, and turns golden yellow when fully matured. The fruit has a small heart, crisp and refreshing flesh, thin and juicy skin, and a sweet and fragrant taste.
From the 1980s to the 1990s, due to the high planting efficiency, a number of varieties such as Suli, Zaosu, and Fengshui were developed on a large scale, and the area once reached 12,000 acres. Due to the specific geographical location of the Siyang area and more than a hundred years of cultivation, pear fruits are characterized by white, tender flesh, juicy, crispy and delicious flesh.
