The trademark laws of Guernsey include the "Patents, Designs and Trademarks Law" enacted in 1922, revised in 1959, and the "Patents, Designs and Trademarks" (revised) which came into effect on April 1, 1960 . Trademark rights registered after April 1, 1960 can be extended to Andre, Bledsoe, Big and Little Shaker, Herm Island, Jay Lake Island, and Lihu Island; trademarks registered before April 1, 1960 The right must be extended upon application to be valid in the entire area.
The Guernsey trademark registration application must be based on the British trademark registration. The classification of goods for trademark registration is stipulated in the British Trademark Law. Guernsey accepts registration applications for product trademarks and color trademarks. Guernsey currently does not participate in any international organisations.
