What are the trademark categories? By what criteria are they classified?

There are many classifications of trademarks. According to different perspectives and standards, trademarks can be divided into different types. (1) Classification according to the composition of trademarks 1. Word trademarks: composed of relatively standardized numbers, letters and words, with distinctive features. For example, "96446" is composed of pure numbers, "DELL" is composed of pure letters, and "SOHU" is formed of pure words. 2. Graphic trademark: a trademark consisting of a two-dimensional or three-dimensional image. For example, the Y-shaped logo in the outer ring of the German Mercedes-Benz car, the shell graphic trademark of Shell International Petroleum Co., Ltd., etc. 3. Combination trademark: formed by a combination of numbers, letters, words, graphics and colors. Such as Windows98, State Grid Corporation of China's trademark consisting of a circular power grid icon and Chinese and English. (2) Classification according to the purpose of the trademark 1. Product trademark: a sign used on specific goods to indicate the source of the goods. Such as "Youngor" (suits), Adidas (football), Qingdao brand (beer), etc. 2. Service trademark: A mark used on services provided to the society to distinguish the services provided by the service provider. Such as the Sinopec logo, the Global Communications logo, the Boiling Fish Fragrance Catering logo, etc. 3. Commercial trademark: a logo affixed on the goods sold by a commercial enterprise selling goods, such as the logos affixed by Carrefour and Meilianmei Supermarket on some products. 4. Certification trademarks: controlled by an organization with the ability to supervise certain goods or services, and used by units or individuals other than the organization on their goods or services to certify the origin, raw materials, and manufacturing of the goods or services. A sign of method, quality or other specific quality. Such as Great Wall Electrician Certification Mark, Wool Fabric Mark, etc. (3) Classification according to the particularity of trademarks 1. Well-known trademarks: trademarks that are widely known to the relevant public in China and enjoy a high reputation. Such as Lenovo, Tongrentang, etc. 2. Joint trademark: The same trademark owner registers two or more similar trademarks for the same or similar goods and services. For example, "Quanjude" Food Group has registered trademarks such as "Quanjude", "Quandeju", "Juquande", "Judequan", "Dequanju" and "Dejuquan" at the same time, forming a joint trademark. If Beijing Electric Power Company wants to register the trademarks "Nortel", "Beijing Electric Power", "Beijing Power Supply" and "Beijing Power Supply", it will be a joint trademark. 3. Defensive trademark: The trademark owner will register a trademark that is already known to the public in categories other than the goods and services approved for use by the trademark, so as to prevent other operators from maliciously registering and using it. For example, Haier Group has registered the "Haier" trademark in all product categories. State Grid Corporation of China has registered all categories and is not ready to use them all, so the ball trademark is also a defensive trademark. 4. Geographical indication: A certain product will have specific quality, reputation or other characteristics due to the unique natural or human factors of a certain region. A specific indication used to indicate that a product originates from a region is a geographical indication. Such as "Lanzhou Lily", "Korla Fragrant Pear", "Xinyang Maojian", etc. 5. Collective trademark: refers to a mark registered in the name of a group, association or other organization and provided for use by members of the organization in commercial activities to indicate the user's membership in the organization. The Trademark Law and the Trademark Implementation Regulations stipulate that the applicant for collective trademark registration should be an organization, which can be an industrial or commercial group, an association, a guild, or other organizations, and cannot be a single entity. corporate legal person or natural person. Judging from this regulation, although the ball logo of State Grid Corporation of China has been authorized for use by all its subsidiaries, it is not a collective trademark. (4) Classification according to whether trademark registration is carried out 1. Registered trademark: a trademark that applies for registration to the national trademark authority and is approved for use. 2. Unregistered trademark: a product mark that the user uses on his or her own goods without applying for registration with the national trademark management authority. According to my country's Trademark Law and other industrial and commercial administration laws and regulations, only registered trademarks are protected by law. The use of trademarks by non-registered trademark users does not violate the provisions of my country's trademark laws and regulations, and must not infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of registered trademark owners.
