Sorghum (Gramineae sorghum)

Sorghum, millet of Gramineae. Culms are stout and erect, with supporting roots at the base nodes. Leaf sheaths glabrous or a little powdery; Ligule is hard, the apex is round, and the edge is ciliate. Panicle is loose, the main shaft is bare, and the main stem is upright or slightly bent; Stamens 3, anthers about 3 mm long; Ovary obovate; Style divided, stigma broom-like. The caryopsis is flat and convex on both sides, reddish brown to reddish brown, 2.5-3 mm wide when mature, and the top is slightly exposed. The petiole of pedunculate spikelets is about 2.5 mm long, the spikelets are linear to lanceolate, and the flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

Sorghum likes warm and light, and has certain high temperature resistance. Distributed in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions all over the world. Cultivated in northern and southern provinces of China. Sorghum rice is the food of China, Korea, the former Soviet Union, India and Africa.
