Umbro is an internationally renowned brand UMBRO with a history of 91 years. It is a British football clothing manufacturer based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 2004 by the British Humphreys brothers. The brothers combined the five English letters in their English name (HUMPHREY BROTHERS) to form the word UMBRO, and then added a diamond double rhombus pattern to become the registered trademark of UMBRO today.
In 2008, Nike, the world's largest sports shoe and apparel manufacturer, announced that it had agreed to acquire British football equipment manufacturer Umbro for 285 million pounds (approximately HK$4.5 billion).
On October 24, 2012, Nike sold its brand Umbro to Iconis Brand Group for US$225 million. NIKE released the 2013 England home jersey, indicating that UMBRO England's sponsor has officially become history.
