Born in June 1961 in Jinhua County, Zhejiang Province (now Wucheng District, Jinhua City).

From October 1978 to July 1982, he studied Chinese language and literature in the Chinese Department of Shandong University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

From September 1982 to July 1985, he was a master’s student in Modern Chinese in the Chinese Department of Shandong University and received a master’s degree in literature.

In 2000, he was a doctoral candidate in Chinese language and philology at the School of Liberal Arts of Shandong University and received a doctorate in literature.

From August 1985 to June 1996, he taught in the Chinese Department of Shandong University.

Teaching at Beijing Language and Culture University from July 1996 to present. The first batch of national-level candidates for the New Century Talents Project, winner of the National University Outstanding Young Teacher Award from the Ministry of Education, and winner of the State Council’s special government allowance.
