Can individuals and self-employed individuals apply for multiple trademarks with different names that exceed their business scope?

1. Individuals are not allowed, but self-employed individuals are allowed.

2. On March 15, 2016, the Trademark Office issued a document announcing that individual merchants’ registered trademarks are not subject to industry restrictions.

3. The full text of the notice is as follows:

In order to adapt to the new situation of my country's economic and social development, further optimize the institutional environment for mass entrepreneurship and innovation, effectively serve trademark applicants, and simplify the processing of natural persons. For the formal documents submitted when applying for trademark registration, from the date of issuance of this notice, our office will no longer review whether the scope of goods or services declared by individual industrial and commercial households when applying for trademark registration is within their approved business scope. Applicants who hold a new version of an individual industrial and commercial household business license that does not record business scope information and handle trademark applications will no longer submit certification materials on the business scope downloaded and printed from the website designated by the registration authority. When applying for trademark transfer, if the transferee is a natural person, please refer to the above matters.
