I can't say that I am a professional, I can only give you my experience. You crossed the line on watercolor paper with a dip pen. First, is your ink waterproof? Watercolor paper itself is uneven and easy to take the bait.

When you use a dip pen, you only want to show the thickness change of the line. In fact, a stylus can be used, and the stylus does not need to occupy ink. The self-contained ink is waterproof and does not smudge.

Second, you can choose to use cardboard. General animation companies also use cardboard when drawing colored backgrounds. Also, wet drawing of paperboard is easy to absorb water and is used for papermaking. The thickness and smooth surface of the cardboard itself will not make the paper head peel off.

Of course, you use watercolor pigments and water-soluble markers, or watercolor paper is the first choice, but it can't be done at once without too much water. If you brush it repeatedly, it will definitely peel off. In addition, the choice of pen is also very particular, it should be better to use GUI pen, which is soft and not easy to drop. If the brush is too large, it will fall into the water, resulting in too large color blocks and other adverse effects. Gouache is definitely not available.

I have used cardboard for a long time. There are good and bad cardboard. You can go to the art store and choose a thick one.
