Pixian Douban is naturally brewed and fermented through traditional techniques such as long-term turning, sun-drying and dewing. It has crispy petals, rich soy sauce aroma, reddish-brown oil and gloss, spicy but not dry, moderate viscosity, and a mellow and long aftertaste. It is an indispensable seasoning in Sichuan recipes. Pidu District is located in the heart of the Western Sichuan Plain, between 103°42'~104°2' east longitude and 30°43'~30°52' north latitude, with an area of ??437.5 square kilometers. It borders Jinniu District of Chengdu City to the east, Dujiangyan City to the west, Wenjiang District to the south, and Xindu District and Pengzhou City to the north.
