Zheng Yuanjie, born in 1955. He has a primary school education and currently lives in Beijing. He makes a living by writing and is an independent writer. Began writing in 1977. In 1984, he came up with the idea that he did not want to appear in the same publication as other people's works. The "Fairy Tale King" magazine, which was founded in 1985 and has been published to this day, is a monthly magazine dedicated to publishing his works. This kind of large-circulation purely literary monthly with the work of one writer supporting the entire page for 15 years is still rare in the history of Chinese and foreign literature and publishing. To date, more than 40 million copies of his works have been printed. Today, in mainland China, there are very few people around the age of 20 who do not know about Pipilu, Lu Xixi, Shuke and Beta in his works. In 1990, a Taiwanese publisher wanted to purchase the copyright of Zheng Yuanjie's works, but Zheng Yuanjie proposed not to appear in the same publication as other people's works. In 1991, the Taiwan version of "Fairy Tale King", a monthly magazine that specifically published Zheng Yuanjie's works, was launched in Taipei. In 1993, Zheng Yuanjie was elected as one of the top ten outstanding young people in Beijing.
The characters Pipilu, Lu Xixi, Shuke, Beta and Rock written by him have become registered trademarks.
