At present, the longan planting area in Quanzhou is 430,000 acres, with a total output of 47,000 tons. Longan planting area and output rank among the top in Fujian Province and prefecture-level cities across the country. The city has 15 towns and villages with 10,000 acres of longan, and 166 longan farms with more than 100 acres, known as the "Ocean of Longan." Quanzhou has rich longan variety resources, which can be called my country's "treasure house of longan variety resources". There are 79 longan varieties (or strains) originating in Quanzhou City. More than 40 varieties have been introduced, and more than 110 varieties and strains have been registered, accounting for one-third of the country's longan varieties. Quanzhou longan is famous both at home and abroad for its excellent quality and unique flavor.
