Method for determination of sludge moisture content

Moisture content is the measurement of TS below

Measurement of TS, VS, SS and VSS

1. Determination of total solids and volatile total solids

1. First, weigh the crucible G1 that has been washed and burned to constant weight (approximately 60 minutes at 600°C);

2 . Use a measuring pipette to measure 10ml of sludge, put it into a crucible, bake the crucible in an oven at 105°C for 24 hours, take it out, put it in a desiccator to cool to room temperature, and then weigh G2;

3. Put the crucible into a muffle furnace at 600°C and burn it for 2 hours. Take it out and put it in a desiccator to cool to room temperature and weigh G3;

4. Divide G2-G1 by The volume of sludge is used to obtain the TS of the sludge;

5. Divide G2-G3 by the volume of the sludge to obtain the VS of the sludge.

2. Determination of suspended solids and volatile suspended solids

1. First weigh the cleaned and burned crucible G1;

2. Use a pipette to take 10ml of sludge and put it in centrifuge tube, put it into a centrifuge and centrifuge at 5000rpm for 5 minutes;

3. Pour out the supernatant, take out the sludge in the tube and put it into the crucible, rinse it with distilled water, and pour the rinse water into the crucible. Bake the crucible in an oven at 105°C for 24 hours, take it out, cool it to room temperature in a desiccator, and then weigh G4;

4. Place the crucible into a muffle furnace at 600°C Burn for 2 hours, take it out and put it in a desiccator to cool to room temperature and weigh G5;

5. Divide G4-G1 by the volume of sludge to get the SS of the sludge;

6. Divide G4-G5 by the volume of sludge to obtain the VSS of sludge.
