The quality of Gongting’s first embroidery was very poor. The threads were knotted and fluffy, which is normal. I was so depressed during the embroidery. The quality of the cloth was also not good. It was said to be from Yimei. Okay, the fabric is very plaid. It is fully imported. And there are no fakes in the market. Next time I plan to buy Yimei embroidery. Below is a comparison of all the cross-stitch brands I found online, for reference by JMM who likes cross-stitch.
Cross-stitch brand comparison
Log in to many cross-stitch BBS forums and you will find that many JMs will ask which brand of cross-stitch is better. Here I have summarized some of my practical experience. ——Of course, combined with the actual experience of FANS, we also sorted out the existing cross-stitch brands on the market, hoping to help everyone choose products. Solemnly note: Brand reviews only represent personal opinions. Otherwise, the public is right, the mother-in-law is right, and JJMMs who have their own preferences will throw eggs all over the sky, enough for me to open an egg shop! hehe!
1. French DMC (all imported): I don’t need to mention this, it is a world-recognized big brand and an internationally accepted STANDARD. DMC Art117 series embroidery thread consists of six strands, which are easy to separate. This embroidery thread is spun from the best long-fiber cotton in the world and undergoes special double mercerization treatment, so it has a special luster. It is different from other brands. The difference in comparison is that it is rich in color, with 448 basic colors - and recently 60 types of mixed silk threads have been released. The color numbers are registered globally and copyrighted. The only one in the world that can ensure that the same color number of cotton threads is produced every time without color difference. No matter it is machine washed, hand washed or ironed at high temperature, it will not fade. The world's leading mercerized cotton technology gives the embroidery thread a silky luster and feel, and a soft and natural color. No hair or knots, no fading, and not easy to break. Flexible and wear-resistant. The embroidery patterns produced by many cross-stitch companies are based on DMC thread number. The colors of the finished product and the renderings are consistent, truly one-of-a-kind. The disadvantage is, hey, the price is relatively expensive (depressed: from August 1, 2007, due to the impact of cotton prices, the prices of DMC lines in the entire Asia-Pacific region have been officially raised). There are few types of kits. The most famous ones should be the vertical four seasons and fruit series. . Generally, you need to look for drawings and do your own wiring, and there is a wide range of drawings to choose from. Embroidery friends who use DMC embroidery thread are usually about to graduate from cross-stitch university and have to submit their graduation thesis. Of course, those JJMMs who have money in their pockets and want to jump out on their own can also choose to buy it. There are currently only two agents in China that are officially authorized by DMC: Xiuquju (original Caixiufang) in the south and Yizhenfang in the north. ——At this time, we are negotiating with DMC Company to renew the contract. However, due to DMC's great reputation, the industry has followed suit, leading to rampant fake threads on the market, and many buyers are easily deceived. So here I don’t recommend any restaurant in Changshu. I will only sing a song by Na Ying: Look at flowers in the mist, look at the moon in the water! Lend me a pair of discerning eyes and let me take a closer look and understand. Let me teach you a little trick that I personally use to identify the authenticity of DMC threads (you can’t change them for a lot of money): pull a small piece of thread and light it with fire. The genuine product should have no smell and burn without ashes. As for fakes,...hehehehe! ! ! Try it yourself!
The embroidery cloth used in cross-stitch is cotton cloth, linen cloth, or plastic cloth with regular small square grids. Its specification is represented by "CT" - the number of small grids in each inch. The commonly used specification is 14CT, that is: there are 14 small grids in each inch. The specifications we see on the market include: 9CT, 11CT, 14CT, 16CT, 18CT, 22CT, 28CT, 32CT, etc.
The conventional colors of cotton include natural white, bleached, and black; while the family of colored fabrics is relatively large, from pink to deep red, from sky blue to navy blue, from tender green to old green... You can choose according to the color. Choose different colors with different embroidery patterns to create a more perfect artistic effect.
The colors of linen are divided into three types: light, medium and dark. Compared with cotton, the quality of linen can only be described as more natural, because linen itself has its own irregular dots. pattern. Linen is more expensive than cotton, but the results of the works embroidered with it are also quite beautiful. Many embroidery friends will choose linen when embroidering some large-scale fairy or character pictures.
Plastic cloth is made of plastic and will not fall apart after cutting, so we often use it to make handicrafts such as wallets, mobile phone chains, and small pendants.
The fabric of French DMC cloth is relatively thin, and its 14CT or above cloth has relatively large holes (the needle will often fall out by itself if you are not careful). I personally think that it is more suitable for Used by older embroidery friends who have begun to suffer from presbyopia. When mounting works embroidered with DMC embroidery cloth, it is best to do it yourself or have the mounting master place a piece of cloth or paper of the same color as the embroidery cloth on the back of the cloth. This will make the mounting effect of the work better. The edges of DMC cloth are small blue squares.
2. German ANCHOR (all imported): There are 480 colors. The company was established later than DMC. But we cannot underestimate it based on seniority. The quality of German ANC thread is comparable to that of French DMC thread. In comparison, its colors are relatively brighter. It is impossible to use it to embroider the embroidery produced by Anchor's own company, such as landscapes and flowers. ANCHOR is generally wired according to the drawings, there are not many kits, and the price is more expensive than DMC, which is extremely expensive. But be careful when buying ANC cables, as rare items can be found, and a large number of counterfeit cables have recently been sold online. Germany's precision machinery is the most rigorous and internationally renowned, so the quality of German cloth is also the best. It is thicker and has a square and full grid. It is my favorite cloth, but it is more expensive. Its edges are orange-red. ZW is a well-known name in the industry!
3. Olympus (Japan): The Chinese translation is Olympus. It has the same name as a digital product. It is purely a coincidence. Japanese products are rare in mainland China. This is partly due to the subconscious mind of the Chinese people - boycotting Japanese products. Also, Japanese cross-stitch is too close to Chinese embroidery style. Olympus is a brand of CLOVER founded in Japan in 1925. The embroidery style is fresh and elegant, and the embroidery threads are smooth, shiny and lint-free, giving you a silky feel when threading. ——Like Japanese Yusheng! The early promotion and popularization of cross-stitch in Taiwan is attributed to Olympus. Japan also has COSMOS, which is used for embroidery, which is closer to Chinese embroidery!
4.STITCH (South Korea): Everyone knows STITCH! Hallyu represents the new trend! STITCH is the representative of Korean cross-stitch and has admirers in Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand in Southeast Asia. As soon as its new model came out, it became popular all over the world, and a large number of people followed it and copied it! Domestic products such as Mona Lisa, Zhenai, and Yimei have all been pirated. Domestic intellectual property protection is weak, and Koreans do not file international lawsuits, so the world is peaceful! (In fact, the Koreans have long since secretly crossed over to Chencang, cooperated with the Chinese, and opened an Angel STITCH store. They are too lazy to fight a protracted legal battle. They just put the visible money in their pockets first!) There are also STITCH magazines that are more respected by fans. It can be seen that Koreans really take cross-stitch as an industry!
5.DOME (South Korea): What a beautiful Chinese translation! The product is beautiful, comparable to STITCH! The price is also expensive! Meat prices are going up, so I guess you have to weigh it!
6. Yeidam (South Korea): Chinese translation is Yeidan, produced in South Korea. The thread has a good luster, no hair or knots, and does not fade. The disadvantage is that it is a bit thin and the price is high. If you are tight on money, it may be a pain to buy it!
The above three kinds of Korean cross-stitch cloths are divided into thin and thick. The quality of thin cloth is worse than DMC cloth, while the quality of thick cloth is between German cloth and DMC cloth. The price of Korean cloth is relatively popular among embroidery friends, so there are more of them circulating in the market. The edges of Korean cloth are also blue. For a period of time, there was a rumor in the embroidery market that Yedanbu followed the Dharma and surpassed the virtues - the entire Great Leap Forward movement! Jedan cloth is relatively thick, but it is actually made in China. Many people don’t understand it and think it is imported Korean cloth. In fact, their manufacturer is in Qingdao, Shandong. The Koreans provide the technology and the Chinese make it. Its edges are orange-red. I personally prefer the colors in their Pearl range.
The Koreans also have some products. I have only seen kits, and they are briefly listed as follows:
SODA mostly produces cartoon drawings. I have collected a large stack of their drawings, but I haven’t embroidered it before, so I think the baby faces inside are a bit big. I saw someone embroidering it and said that the color of the picture seems light, but the edges are very beautiful. Nine out of ten domestic cartoons are copied from SODA.
SANGROKSU, that teeth-brushing pajamas COUPLE seems to be produced by them, I don’t know much about it.
WORD, they also produce cartoons, pirate COUPLE, and dolls with big eyes. It is produced by them.
RA, the new pictures that everyone is looking for recently, the cute ones are basically from his family. I personally like the two children with a leaf.
SSACSOO , according to my understanding, Funny Couple is an original product of this company!
7.PINN-STITCH (Thailand): Thailand is a big country that produces cross-stitch thread, and international giants have processing plants in Thailand. Thai cross-stitch has a strong national flavor. Religion and kings are the main themes! Original kits are expensive! Small items can be converted into RMB no less than 200 yuan, and large items can be converted into RMB 1,000 or more.
Because cross-stitch originated from the European royal family, there are actually many European and American brands, such as Heaven & Earth Designs, Janlynn, Stoneycreek, Dimensions, Heritage, Leisurearts..., these brands have their own thread numbers, but they are different from each other. Both DMC and ANCHOR can be converted. The disadvantages are that it is too expensive and not easy to get! Friends who are interested in embroidery can go to their homepage to browse and watch!
Spring: Cooperation with French DMC. The embroidery thread in the set is made of 100% Egyptian long-staple cotton, which is made of Thailand's advanced textile technology and technology and double mercerization. It is dyed with high-quality reactive dyes imported from Germany. After 21 dyeing processes, the color difference index is above 4.6. , the dry rubbing fastness, wet rubbing fastness and ironing fastness of dyeing are all above 4.5, and the brightness and color have reached world-class levels. Each thread color has been strictly tested before leaving the factory and will never fade. There are 448 colors too! ——Haha, I’m not bragging, because it’s DMC’s genetic heritage, and all the good ones have been preserved! The embroidered fabric in the kit is made of 24-count pure cotton yarn and undergoes strict weaving and sizing processes. The embroidery needles in the kit are high-quality blunt needles imported from Taiwan. Sets and pillows have their own character.
Mona Lisa: produced in Shanghai. The representative office in Changshu is the old lady of the royal family in Liyanggang, which netizens in the Yucheng embroidery circle are talking about, and there is also one on Heping Street. The kit is made of Korean fabric, with Thai FAIRY thread and VENUS thread. It is soft, full and shiny, with the right color, no hair or knots, no fading, and not easy to break. There seem to be two types of Mona Lisa kits: the good quality one, the threads are twisted into a twist shape, not fading, and shiny; the poor quality kind, the threads are loose, the gloss is not bad, but It is relatively thin, easy to break, and will fluff. It is said that it uses domestic thread instead of imported thread. JJMMs must pay attention to the distinction when buying. Although the old lady is hateful - it makes Mona Lisa's smile look like she is teasing before she kills someone with a knife, but Mona Lisa can never be abandoned!
European royal family: In fact, they are the same family as Mona Lisa, two children from the same father. When the company was divided, a royal family was born. Overall the quality is on par with the Mona Lisa.
Yimei: Korean fabric, Thai SAHA-UNION thread, the fabric is very plaid, the thread has 454 colors, soft, full and shiny, the color is correct, no hair or knots, does not fade, although it is an imported product, the price It's not expensive, I believe many people will choose this brand, and the finished product has good results. The advantage is that it is exclusively for kit embroidery thread. There are no fakes on the market, so you can buy it with confidence and there will be no quality issues.
Luckyfish: Also from Shanghai, the quality is good, comparable to the Mona Lisa and the royal family! It dares to openly admit that it is a joint venture line, much brighter than the Mona Lisa! The disadvantage is that it is small in scale, has few kits, and is relatively expensive!
CMC: Originated from Hubei yellow peach cross-dressing! In 1938, the yellow plum blossom cross-stitch won the gold medal at the "Panama International Exposition"; in 1954, it won the Polish "Folk Arts and Crafts Exhibition of Socialist Countries" award. In 1959, Premier Zhou Enlai personally selected it among many Hubei crafts to decorate the Hubei Hall of the Great Hall of the People. The popularity is not small. CMC embroidery threads also come in 448 colors, all made of 100% Egyptian cotton and processed with exquisite craftsmanship. Their brightness and color have reached world-class levels. Each thread color has been strictly tested before leaving the factory. It does not fade and is a high-quality, mid- to low-priced cross-stitch thread.
There are many kits and rich drawings, but not many of them are known in Changshu! However, the widely known work of the Five Tigers (Fu) is a genuine CMC original.
KS (Sino-Japanese joint venture): Originally called Rose Brand, it was renamed KS after the joint venture with the Japanese. The Japanese provide technology and the Chinese manufacture, so-called export to domestic sales. The thread is good, but the thread quality is a little hard and the luster is a bit less. Fortunately, it is not lint-free and does not fade. Some colors are prone to breakage, so there is a slight color difference between the finished product and the renderings. Many merchants say that KS is entirely imported, but in fact KS is made in China. According to online feedback, the price of domestically produced products is indeed on the high side. Moreover, false claims about imported lines are suspected of deceiving consumers. KS is unique in large-scale suites, with unparalleled scenery, such as six-foot peonies, rising sun, golden ground, good fortune, and blooming flowers. They are all original works of KS, and JMs also talk about them.
KEC: It is a product of Wenzhou. Zhejiang People's business management is amazing and smart! Imitation is its biggest feature! But not many people in China praise the quality of Zhejiang products! This can only be a mid- to low-end brand in cross stitch. The price is moderate, and the drawings are borrowed and plagiarized. So people have something, and people don’t have anything. Hey, they don’t have anything. Those who have left cross-stitch preschool can use KEC products to learn embroidery skills in elementary school!
CB: Color Bird. Color Bird is an authentic Jiangsu product! And the place of origin is near Changshu. CB has more sales in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and it really blooms inside the wall and smells good outside the wall. How many people know about Changshu? Raise your hand! Everyone doesn’t know it anyway, so I won’t introduce it in detail, lest my mouth becomes dry!
Zhenai (domestic): Yes, Zhenai is indeed a domestic product. I don’t know who boasts that it is a foreign product, but in fact it is not even a hybrid. The imported materials are produced domestically. Zhenai and Jinxin are actually from the same company. The manufacturer is in Yiwu, Zhejiang, but the quality of Zhenai is better than Jinxin. It is an upgraded version of dual-core Jinxin. The drawings and cloth are okay, but generally the quality of the threads is slightly poor, the thickness is uneven, and it's easy to fluff, but it seems to have improved now. Changshu recruitment mall has an agent!
Gongting, Jinxin, Ruyi, Zhizhen (domestic): Why are these four brands reviewed together? Because they are popular products in the cross-stitch market. Lower Riba people, pop music! Located in every corner. Shops have been opened in towns and villages selling it! The advantage is that it is cheap and has popularized cross stitch. The great leader said it well, things are always contradictory! So although I am annoyed that it has disrupted the market order, it has also made more people aware of the art of cross-stitch. The common problems of these brands are that the threads have poor gloss, are easy to break and fluff, and some may fade. There may also be insufficient wiring, and sometimes there will be deviations between the renderings and the drawings. As for the quality, I can only lament that it cannot be said, it cannot be said. It is suitable for JJMM who have just learned embroidery to practice their skills. It is best not to choose this type as a gift or decoration - someone happens to have a DMC or ANCHOR nearby. To paraphrase an old saying: if the pearls and jade are on the side, how can the rubble shine? It is inevitable to spread your own table. If these four domestic brands were to be compared side by side and ranked from low to high in terms of quality, my personal opinion would be: Zhizhen - Ruyi - Palace - Jinxin, the higher and lower ones are probably Fifty Steps and One Hundred Just step by step! Also, since 2006, Gongting has registered a new trademark, Gong "ting", not Gong "ting". The packaging is much brighter! But only changing the image without mentioning the quality, Xiaojiu had no choice but to slow down!
I won’t comment on the quality of domestic CC cloth, because I have never used it, but it is said that its quality is so-so, the cloth is soft, the grid is crooked, and it is not as good as its II generation line. The price is quite cheap.
Haha! Other brands are popping up like mushrooms after a rain! JMs can give you some advice. But experienced embroidery practitioners will definitely give priority to the quality of embroidery thread and cloth. If a worker wants to do his job well, he must first sharpen his tools! When everyone uses DMC thread or ANC thread with Italian fabric, it will be the pinnacle of cross stitch!
The article was forwarded from me - there are many brands that I don’t understand. Please note that this article is for reference only!
