Trademark registration process

1. Trademark inquiry. In order to reduce the potential risks of trademark registration, you can first search for the trademark. If there is no identical or seriously similar trademark before, you can prepare application documents and submit a registration application;

2. Submit the application. If you entrust an agency to handle the matter, be sure to sign the "Trademark Agency Power of Attorney".

3. Formal review. 3-4 months after the trademark registration application is submitted, the Trademark Office will issue the trademark "Registration Application Acceptance Notice" (formal review passed).

Note: Trademarks applied after May 1, 2014 will be accepted due to adjustments in the acceptance procedures of the new Trademark Law (the Trademark Office has placed the review of goods, drawings, etc. before the acceptance notice). The time for issuing notices has been extended to 3-4 months, instead of the previous one month.

4. Substantive review. The new Trademark Law stipulates that the substantive trademark review period lasts for about 9 months. If the trademark passes the substantive examination, a preliminary approval announcement will be made (for a period of 3 months);

5. After the announcement period is over, no one will raise any objection to your trademark (to hinder your trademark registration) , you can wait to receive the trademark registration certificate (after the implementation of the new Trademark Law, it will take about 1 year to complete the trademark registration.)
