Three hundred and fifty years ago, at the junction of Xiuzhuan Town, Xiage Town and Guanbei Town in Zhao 'an County, there were many wild tea trees in the plough-walled valley with an altitude of more than 1,000 meters. Tea trees grow by the spring water in the pit, countless branches surround the fog, and the lush leaves shine and are very aura. At that time, it was proved by the monks of Changlin Temple and was mythical, so it was called a sacred tree for a while. Leaves are very popular in the northeast of Xiuzhuan Town (formerly known as Taipingwei). They were used as a panacea for drinking by the rebels of the Heaven and Earth Society who opposed the Qing Dynasty and regained their sight at that time, and were widely adopted and spread by the children of poor Hakka farmers in mountainous areas. They were once regarded as auspicious things to save the poor, so the common name of tea was "Kudingcha", and later it was renamed "Kudingcha". Until now, local farmers still retain the custom of going up the mountain to catch up with the Taiping market and looking for symbols. On the 24th of the twelfth lunar month, the peasant woman cleans at home, and the man goes up the mountain to pick tea leaves, and inserts tea leaves on the facade or the incense burner of the kitchen god, which indicates that all sufferings will come. Due to various historical reasons and limited cultivation techniques of Kuding tea, Zhao 'an Kuding tea transplanted "a narrow escape" and raised seedlings "one in a hundred", which developed very slowly and was even raised in a deep and poor ravine. Since the reform and opening up, a group of experts and professors from Fujian Tropical Crops Research Institute have entered the Hakka mountainous areas in Fujian to investigate and study Kuding tea. Zhaoan Kuding tea is pure, and its economic value and magical effect have been fully affirmed.

According to Zhao 'an County Records, Ilex kudingcha is a wild shrub, and its seedlings were first cultivated and commercialized by Xiuzhuan. After 1990, it gradually expanded to Jianshe, Xitan, Poplar and other places, and some gardens cultivated and picked their young branches and leaves, which could be used for brewing after sun exposure or air drying. Zhao 'an County has had the custom of using Kuding tea to treat diseases since ancient times. The traditional drinking method is picking tea leaves and soaking in water, clearing away heat and toxic materials, diminishing inflammation and purging fire. 1996, Zhao' an county has established the enterprise standard of Kuding tea and Kuding tea bag tea. In 1980s, Zhao 'an people began to cultivate Kuding tea by cutting in the mountains, and picked tea leaves for processing and sales. At present, the planting area is about 5000 mu, and pesticides and fertilizers are not used. Up to now, some tea trees are crowned with pavilions, which are as tall as litchi trees.
