Yongxin Specialties
Yongxin pickled ginger, orange peel, and candied eggplant are a group of precious traditional specialties with unique flavor, nourishing and fitness, and suitable for all ages. It has a long history of production, exquisite material selection and exquisite craftsmanship. Legend has it that during the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, when Xu Hezi, a female singer, was selected into the palace, she kept her singing voice clear and overwhelming because of her long-term consumption of orange peels and candied eggplants. The Empress also often used soy ginger to treat dizziness and headaches, and was listed as a tribute by the emperor.
To produce soy sauce ginger, around the Dragon Boat Festival every year, high-quality glutinous rice is taken to make "jiangniang", and then the high-quality ginger pieces are peeled and mixed with the sauce, and processed using traditional techniques. The finished product is white sugar color with silky texture on the outside and sauce brown on the inside. It is moderately sweet and salty, refreshing and slightly spicy. It can be eaten alone or as a tea snack. Stewing chicken and steaming meat with ginger has the functions of dispelling wind, warming the stomach, refreshing, nourishing the brain, and keeping fit. It is especially effective in treating dizziness and pain.
Orange peel (also known as tangerine peel), raw material is orange peel. According to "Compendium of Materia Medica", orange peel can ventilate, relieve cough and resolve phlegm. Yongxin orange peel is made from unripe high-quality white eggplants taken from May to June every year and refined using traditional techniques. The finished product is dark brown in color, as clear and transparent as gastrodia elata, has a fragrant aroma, and is rich in nutrients, making it known as an elegant food. Sweet eggplant can clear the heart, moisturize the lungs, stop hemoptysis, and has certain curative effects on lung diseases, bronchitis, etc.
