Luocheng people have had the habit of brewing red wine from coarse grapes since ancient times. When Yu Chenglong, the "most honest official in the world" appointed by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, left office, local people gave each other red wine that had been treasured for many years to express their affection and farewell. 1928 In May, Qin Renchang, a famous plant taxonomist in China, collected wild grape specimens in Luocheng, and published papers in journals in Britain, the United States and Germany, which attracted the attention of the world plant academia. During 1989, Professor Kiwifruit from Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences conducted an in-depth investigation in Luocheng, which proved that wild Vitis amurensis is a new endemic plant in 90,000 mountains in Guangxi, and named it Luocheng Vitis amurensis. In 2000, it was identified by French technical authorities that Luocheng wild hairy wine contained two unique substances that other wines did not have.

Luocheng is mountainous, and the natural conditions such as soil, light and rainfall in mountainous areas are very suitable for the growth of wild hairy grapes, especially the low degree of industrialization in this county, which makes wild hairy grapes survive and multiply in a pollution-free environment. It is a unique treasure. Luocheng wine brewed from wild hairy grapes has amber color, bright crimson appearance and elegant color. The fine product is sweet and slightly sour, mellow and refreshing, with a tongue and teeth, a light aftertaste and a rich and delicate wine taste, which can be called excellent in color, aroma and taste.

In September, 2000, Luocheng Mulao Autonomous County was recognized as "the hometown of wild hairy grapes in China" by the organizing committee for recommendation and publicity of the hometown of specialty in China. Luocheng wild hairy grape wine is made from this wild hairy grape by traditional technology, low-temperature fermentation and aging for many years.
