The Chinese Mustang was born in the late 1980s. At that time, "Jinding" brand passenger cars, "Mustang" and "White Deer" brand light off-road vehicles, and passenger and cargo vehicle series were all over the country. In May 1994, Sichuan Automobile Industry Group Corporation was formed by the merger of three urban automobile basic enterprises including Chengdu Light Vehicle General Factory. In August 2006, it was officially renamed Sichuan Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. In 2011, Sichuan Automobile Industry Co., Ltd. was established through share reorganization. In August 2014, Yema Motors launched a new logo, determined to build a first-class brand in the automotive industry. The American Ford Mustang and the Chinese Mustang use a similar brand name - "Mustang", but they are actually two completely different companies. Not long ago, Sichuan Mustang sued Ford Mustang for infringement. Now, the outcome of the case has finally been settled. Ford China issued an apology statement on its official website, saying it had a negative impact on the Sichuan Mustang. In response to Ford China's statement and apology regarding the "Mustang" trademark infringement, Sichuan Mustang made a vocal response at noon on July 9, 2018, saying "we shake hands and make peace" and thanked Ford for respecting the Mustang. In this way, the two parties reached a "reconciliation". Mustang is a Chinese brand.
