According to the Ming Dynasty records: "King Tan of Luhuang, the tenth son of Taizu, was born in the third year of Hongwu. He was granted the title two months after his birth. In the eighteenth year of his birth, he came to Yanzhou. He was a good literary scholar, good at poetry, and a master of gold and stone medicine. , the poison hurt the eyes, the emperor hated it, died in the 22nd year, and his posthumous title was "Huang" ② Zhu Tan was originally an erudite and knowledgeable man, and he was very popular with Zhu Yuanzhang. When he was first named King of Lu, Taizu sent envoys to offer sacrifices. Informing the mountains and rivers, the article said: "I crossed the river with my body, first established Taiping County, and then stationed in Jinling, for sixteen years now. The branches and leaves are luxuriant, and I have eleven descendants. I have appointed the eldest son as the crown prince, and the remaining younger ones will be born on the fourth day of this year. On the seventh day of the lunar month, they were all given the title of king, and the tenth son Tan founded the country of Lu. Wang Shi was in charge of the sacrifices in the inner mountains and rivers. Because he was young, he was unable to go to the sacrifice. If he wanted to write lyrics to worship the gods, his poems may not have been published. However, I feel very sorry for not telling the gods for a long time. Now I tell the truth with my words, sending envoys to offer incense and silk, offering sacrifices to the gods, but the gods have learned from it." ③ Zhu Yuanzhang's love for Zhutan can be seen from this. Yibeng not only sent envoys to offer sacrifices, but also wrote the memorial texts himself. He was really loved and loved. Not only that, after Zhu Tan took over Yanzhou as a vassal, he was about to raise Yanzhou to the capital and govern four states and twenty-three counties.
But this King of Lu, after he conquered Yanzhou at the age of eighteen, believed in Taoism. He burned incense, chanted sutras, and refined elixirs all day long in search of the elixir of immortality. As a result, "the medicine was poisoned and hurt the eyes. ", who only lived to be 19 years old, was poisoned and died. When Zhu Yuanzhang learned about it, he was hurt and angry. He thought his behavior was absurd. He gave him the posthumous title of "Huang Wang", and the tomb of King Lu Huang came from this.
The lineage of Lu kings lasted for 283 years from when they were granted the title in the third year of Hongwu (1370) to when the Lu supervisory state was abolished in the seventh year of Yongli in the Southern Ming Dynasty (1653). Ten generations and thirteen kings were passed down, which is unprecedented in China. This is rare in the history of vassal kings.
