Following the Wall Street crash and coffee price collapse, the bank has a lot of excess coffee inventory in its warehouses in Brazil. On April 1, 1938, this soluble coffee product called "Nescafe" was launched in Switzerland. Nestlé has established a large-scale coffee extraction and coffee bean "spray drying" production line for the production of Nestlé coffee at its factory in the small Swiss town of Orbe.
The Nescafé brand was later launched in the UK; in the United States in 1939. By April 1940, Nescafe coffee was sold in 30 countries around the world.
