Hangzhou's "elegant fan" has a long history and is well-known since ancient times. Hangzhou Wangxingji Fan Village, the predecessor of Hangzhou Wangxingji Fan Industry, was founded in 1875 (the first year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty) by Wang Xingzhai. At that time, Hangzhou Wangxingji fan was compared with Zhejiang silk and Longjing tea with its exquisite craftsmanship, different functions and elegant taste, and was known as the "three wonders of Hangzhou production" and famous all over the world. It is a traditional famous fan of Wang Xingji, and it is called a unique fan. The production of black paper fans can only be completed after more than 8 processes, such as bone making, pasting, folding, coloring, sanding and shaping. The fan ribs are made of brown bamboo in Guilin, Guangxi, with beautiful patterns, softness and elasticity. The fan is made of pure mulberry paper and coated with several layers of high-quality persimmon paint made in Zhuji. It is soft, tough and clean in texture, dark and transparent in color, impervious to rain, durable in the sun, and has a reputation of "one fan and half umbrellas". It was once selected as a tribute to the royal family and enjoyed a worldwide reputation.
