Administrative divisions of Ninh Binh Town

Ningping Town, also known as Ningping City, was formerly known as Binglin City and is now under the jurisdiction of Dancheng County. During the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, it belonged to Luyi County.

According to records, in the early years of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Binglin City area was in chaos for many years, and the people were in dire straits. Princess Boji, the third sister of Emperor Guangwu, told Emperor Guangwu: "The chaos in the city is not a rebellion by thieves, but a gathering of hungry people to make a living... My younger sister is willing to lead 3,000 troops to appease the people." Emperor Guangwu asked, "Is 3,000 troops enough? "Princess Boji replied: "That's enough, but you must give me 100,000 troops and food." Emperor Guangwu asked, "Why?" Princess Boji replied, "My sister will use the remaining food to help the hungry people." Emperor Guangwu agreed. After her request, Princess Boji immediately led all the troops to Binglin City, treated the local people politely, and helped the hungry people.

In the 2nd year of Jianwu (AD 26), Emperor Guangwu made Luoyang his capital, and when he conferred the title of civil and military meritorious officials, Princess Bo Ji was named Princess Ningping, and she was granted the title of Princess Ningping. In the 6th year of Jianwu (AD 30), Princess Boji died of illness in Binglin City at the age of 32. Emperor Guangwu ordered her to be buried in the fief (Princess Ningping’s tomb is still well preserved). Later generations therefore renamed Binglin City Ningping City. In April 1986, Ningping Township, which was affiliated to Dancheng County, was removed from the township and established as a town. The more famous ones include Ninh Binh Mahua, Zhangji Smoked Chicken, Fulou Milk, Limiao Tofu, Yangzhai Straw Braid, Weizhuang Old Vinegar, etc. Ninh Binh Twist Twist was originally a tribute to the Qing Palace. It was refined and processed by Zhao Xiuzhi of Ninh Ping Town, who inherited three generations of her ancestors' and grandson's special skills in frying Twist Twist and combined it with the latest scientific formula. It is characterized by being dark red, crisp but not hard, crisp but not sticky, fragrant but not greasy, crumbling when dropped, and the color and flavor will not change after being left for a long time. It is often eaten to strengthen the spleen and appetizer, and has the effect of nourishing. Now it is the fifth generation descendant. Liang Wenge established the Ninh Binh Princess Twist Food Processing Factory, applied for a national patent, and registered the "Princess" brand trademark. Zhang Mingde’s special skill of smoked chicken was passed down by Zhang Mingde. It is characterized by clean processing, crispy bones and rotten meat, red color and fragrant aroma. Now many experts from Zhangji Village who have mastered Zhang Mingde’s special skill of smoked chicken have gone to Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang, Businesses have opened in Hefei and other places, and some have already entered the first General Staff store in Beijing. Limiao tofu, Yangzhai straw braid, and Weizhuang old vinegar have also left a reputation in eastern Henan for their unique processing techniques.
