The moment he arrived in America, that is, the beginning of his 10 world journey, he cooperated with different architects every year. The first stop was to study as a graduate student at Illinois Institute of Technology under the guidance of Mies Van Derro. The latter, Eero Saarinen and alvar aalto, are his idols. When Roach lived in poverty, he joined Sha Lining's company in Michigan. His future partner, John Dinkel, also entered the company at the same time 195 1. From 1954 to Sha Lining's death in 196 1, Roach was his main design assistant. After Sha Lining's death, Roach and Dink Road completed 10 important projects, including: St. Louis Arch, [Baker] TWA Terminal of JFK International Airport in new york [/Baker], Dulles International Airport, Molinder Company Headquarters in Illinois and CBS Headquarters in new york.
After Sha Lining's death, Roach's first design was the Auckland Museum. The city plans to design a memorial building to collect its natural history, technology and artistic treasures. Roach provided a unique idea: a series of ground-floor concrete buildings cover four blocks and are divided into three floors, and the platform of each floor is the roof of the next floor. This novel garden roof museum became Roach's design trademark.
