Pingyao long yam is a national geographical indication certification trademark product. Long yam in Pingyao is mainly planted in Yuebi Township and Guning Town, and long yam has been planted and processed for more than 800 years. In 2008, Pingyao planted long yam 12000 mu, with an average yield of 2635 kg per mu.

Long yam in Pingyao is a specialty with a long history, especially long yam produced in Peyo Village. More than 2,000 years ago, in Shan Hai Jing, there was a record that "Jingshan looks at the north with less ze and more grass with more yam". The Jingshan referred to in this article is in Shanxi.
