What do the three letters SBS on the zipper of clothes mean?

Thermoplastic elastomer is a kind of plastic. Am I talking about something that has nothing to do with zippers?

Please observe your answer carefully. . . I'm really speechless

Be specific. . . .

Styrene-butadiene-styrene block polymer

(SBS)

1 Product Overview

Styrenic thermoplastic elastomers (also known as styreneic block copolymers, referred to as SBCs) are currently the thermoplastic elastomer with the largest production volume in the world and the properties most similar to rubber. At present, there are four main types of SBCs series, namely: styrene-butadiene-styrene block polymer (SBS); styrene-isoprene-styrene block polymer Polymer (SIS); styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block polymer (SEBS); styrene-ethylene-propylene-styrene block polymer (SEPS). SEBS and SEPS are hydrogenated polymers of SBS and SIS respectively.

SBS styrenic thermoplastic elastomer is a variety of SBCs with the largest output (accounting for more than 70%), the lowest cost, and wide application. It is a three-dimensional thermoplastic elastomer with styrene and butadiene as monomers. Block polymers have the characteristics of both plastics and rubber and are called "third-generation synthetic rubber". Similar to styrene-butadiene rubber, SBS can come into contact with water, weak acids, alkali, etc. It has excellent tensile strength, large surface friction coefficient, good low temperature performance, excellent electrical properties, and good processing performance. It has become the most consumed thermoplastic at present. Elastomers.

SBS has incomparable advantages in processing and application of thermosetting rubber:

(1) It can be processed and molded with thermoplastic processing equipment, such as extrusion, injection, blow molding, etc., and the molding speed is It is faster than the traditional vulcanized rubber process;

(2) No vulcanization is required, and the vulcanization process in the general thermosetting rubber processing process can be omitted. Therefore, the investment in equipment is low, the production energy consumption is low, the process is simple, and the processing cycle is short. The production efficiency is high and the processing cost is low;

(3) The cornered materials can be recycled multiple times, saving resources and conducive to environmental protection.

Currently, SBS is mainly used in four major application areas: rubber products, resin modifiers, adhesives and asphalt modifiers. In terms of rubber products, SBS molded products are mainly used in the shoemaking (sole) industry, and extruded products are mainly used in hoses and tapes; as a resin modifier, a small amount of SBS is used with polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), Polystyrene (PS) mixing can significantly improve the low-temperature performance and impact strength of products; SBS as a binder has the characteristics of high solid content, quick drying, and low temperature resistance; SBS is used as a modification of construction asphalt and road asphalt The agent can significantly improve the weather resistance and load resistance of asphalt.

At present, my country's SBS production capacity is 210,000 tons/year, while the domestic market demand has exceeded 350,000 tons. The domestic market gap is large, and the product has good market development prospects.
